Environment and participation
Online consultation among residents
As a first step, the population of the Netherlands was asked, in an extensive online consultation, what they consider important for the Lelylijn. The responses from more than 11,000 residents from all over the Netherlands showed that they value a fast rail connection that provides more sustainable transportation, with a good integration into nature, so that more jobs are within reach and the economy becomes stronger. The project objectives were then adjusted in response to the results of this consultation.
De Lelylijn Advisory Board.
Through the Lelylijn Advisory Council, the business community and social organizations, such as educational institutions and nature organizations, are also involved in the Lelylijn. In the Advisory Council, they can give their views and advice on the results of the various studies about the Lelylijn.
Meetings with young people
The Lelylijn project organization believes it is important to involve young people as much as possible in researching the Lelylijn. We engage with them during workshops, speed dates, presentations and debates at educational institutions (mbo, hbo and universities) and at student associations. We also work with interns and trainees; the Advisory Board of the De Lelylijn project includes two young people from the Student Advisory Committee Groningen (SAC).
Information meetings directors, council members and water boards
The Lelylijn project organization held several meetings to update administrators, council and state members, and water board members on the latest status of the studies surrounding the Lelylijn.
