Valuable regional sessions Accessibility study

Over 100 experts in the fields of landscape, rail, transport, water, ecology, landscape and urban planning, among others, went through the initial results of the research into the various alternatives for Lelylijn. In a number of sessions in the provinces of Groningen (together with Drenthe), Fryslân and Flevoland, they engaged with each other. The ultimate goal is to have a cost estimate by mid-2024.

Bottlenecks and potentially costly interventions were outlined. Think of the crossing of (water) roads and natural areas, but also the integration into inhabited areas.
Additional insights and solution directions were reviewed. As well as which areas should preferably be avoided.

For the accessibility study, sessions will be held again in February. Then the routes and alternatives will be looked at in more detail. This will also involve the provinces of North Holland and Overijssel as well as the municipalities in those provinces where a possible Lelylijn alternative may pass. The province of Drenthe is also involved.

The accessibility study should produce results by summer 2024: three possible routes/alternatives with a cost estimate.
