Image report Delta Plan Congress for Northern Netherlands
On Nov. 2, the first Delta Plan Congress for the Northern Netherlands was held in Drachten.
The conference included an update on the Lelylijn, Lower Saxony Line and existing rail.
Delegate Matthijs de Vries of the Province of Fryslân welcomed everyone. Queen’s Commissioner René Paas of the Province of Groningen and State Secretary Vivianne Heijnen of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management opened the proceedings. This was followed by various sub-sessions and discussions between the government and the region about De LelylijnLower Saxony line and improvements to the existing track.
Students went into conversation with Agnes Mulder of VNO-NCW Noord MKB Noord and Jan-Willem Lobeek of Natuur en Milieufederatie Groningen. They talked about the importance of better connections in relation to the landscape. Student Rebekka de Witte: “I think it’s important that the Lelylijn is available, because it makes me less dependent on a car. The train is sustainable and that is important to me.
Also on the agenda were topics such as broad welfare by Planbureau Fryslân and station development by NS.
