Project organization the Lelylijn on tour
In April 2023, project organization the Lelylijn made a bus tour of several municipalities. They discussed the possibilities, challenges and opportunities for the Lelylijn in order to get an even better picture of the area where the future Lelylijn might be located.
The bus tour took place as part of the MIRT-research NOVEX to the Lelylijn, which project organization the Lelylijn started in early 2023. MIRT stands for Multi-Year Infrastructure, Space and Transport Program.
In the study, the state and region are working together on participation and two major studies:
the accessibility study with several basic alternatives and
the NOVEX study, focusing on the spatial Development Perspective.
The bus tour took place for the NOVEX study and focused on a possible route (planned route or route) for the Lelylijn assuming bundling of the rail line with the national highways A6, A7 and A32. We visited the municipalities of Lelystad, Urk, Noordoostpolder, De Fryske Marren, Súdwest-Fryslân, Heerenveen, Leeuwarden, Smallingerland, Opsterland, Westerkwartier and Groningen. As a project organization, we are grateful for the valuable input and will now go back to the drawing board to process everything.
The goal is that by the fall of 2024, the state and region will have gathered information together on the added value and effects of the Lelylijn, where it could be located and what it should cost. With that information, a decision will then be made whether or not to proceed with the project.
